Onboard the International Space Station, astronauts use disposable cleaning wipes to clean down surfaces on the station, a task which takes up 2-4 hours every Saturday morning. In this first of its kind experiment from the ISSET Launch Prize virtual program, a team from the Minerva Virtual Academy designed an experiment to use reusable antimicrobial cleaning slime as a new, sustainable method for cleaning the ISS. The team hope to identify how effective this agent could be to speed up the cleaning process onboard the ISS as well as offer an alternative to the use of disposable cleaning wipe which at present cause a significant recurring cost to the ISS.
